Trapped in a Bubble

Matched by Ally Condie     description:

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate… until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

BOOK 1: Matched         5 STARS

i love books like this… where people believe in the Society and know that they will always do what’s right for them and would never lie to them and then well they find out it’s all a lie and that though some have it great others are being tossed aside like trash… REVOLUTION!!! can’t help if i love sticking it to the man… but this book is definitely great… i mean when you’re first reading it although you can see that obviously freedoms are being taken away and that they really don’t get to choose what they want everything still seems rather perfect… everyone’s happy because the choices made for them are statistically what they would’ve chosen… but of course once Cassia see’s the image of Xander the man she was matched with flash to the image of Ky a man she can never choose to be with all of a sudden Cassia starts to wonder if the Society really always does what’s right… the more she wonders the more she falls for the wrong man the more she finds out how much the society keeps from them and how much it really needs to be brought down… LOVED IT!!!

BOOK 2: Crossed       3 STARS

not as good as the first… its the part of the story where they’re having to get from point A to point B… and although there is more action in this book than the first it just doesn’t have the same suspense as you’re waiting to see what happens next… you’re now already aware of how corrupt the Society is but the end is where you see that perhaps the Rising may not be as good as everyone thinks… it leaves you wondering what will happen next… is the Rising good or bad… and honestly will Cassia and Ky ever get to be together… or will she eventually choose Xander instead… it truly is the ending that made this story… it leaves you wanting to know more… but the book as a whole, though much does happen, it just isn’t as gripping… my hope is that now that they’ve gone this far the real action will begin and perhaps Cassia truly will break free…

BOOK 3: Reached      UNKNOWN

I’m currently reading this one and I have to say that it’s getting to be as good as the first… It’s exciting and you’re trying to figure out exactly what everyone’s motives really are… this is the finale and I’m hoping it’s going to be as great as it looks to be… also I really love the symbolism of the covers… her breaking out of her shell or the imprisonment of the Society… definitely a trilogy to check out…

  1. I gave Matched 4.5 stars and Crossed 2, so I agree with your thoughts about how the second book wasn’t as gripping. I’m also hoping the third one will be great, I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far!

    • Yeah i don’t know if it’ll end up as good as the first but it’s definitely better than the 2nd… though in the end it’ll all come down to the end… what answers will we get… you know…
