Book 1: Damaged by H. M. Ward
Damaged 2 description:
Home isn’t supposed to be dangerous, but for Sidney it is. Returning home means that she has to face her past. It’s not just the man who hurt Sidney that makes it horrible, but the family that didn’t believe her. They were dead to her, but now that her mom is really dying things seem different. It’s a chance to set things right.
What Sidney doesn’t realize is that she’s dragging Peter into a collision course with his past. Peter must deal with the demons haunting him if he wants to move forward with Sidney. He’s willing to give up everything for her, even wade deeper into his past life to help her move forward. But, Peter isn’t sure if he can get over what happened to him in New York.
Although at the end of the last book I was surprised that there was going to be a 2nd book… because it seemed like Ward could’ve easily tied it all up then and there… but after reading Damaged 2 I’m happy she continued on… this helped show Sidney truly making progress in moving on… as well as getting to learn more about Peter’s dark past and the memories that haunt him… though I can’t say it had the same amazing impact as the first book did… it’s still a well written story that will have you feeling the emotional struggle of both of them and then catch you off guard as you suddenly find yourself laughing at the craziness Sidney get’s herself into… I mean you’re on an emotional roller coaster and then suddenly you’re meeting a pet vulture… it’s witty and sweet… and a bit more erotic than the first book… but it fits as you see Sidney struggling with needs she thought were dead and wanting to be able to love again… it really takes nothing away from the story as a whole and after reading these books I can’t wait to check out more of Ward’s work…
