The Battle Sylph

The Battle Sylph description:

He is one of many: a creature of magic, unrelentingly male. He is lured through the portal by pure female beauty, a virgin sacrifice. She is killed, and he is silenced and enslaved.

Such a dark ritual is necessary. Unlike their elemental cousins—those gentler sylphs of wind and fire—battlers find no joy in everyday labor. Their magic can destroy an army or demolish a castle, and each has but one goal: find his queen, then protect and pleasure her at any cost. What would a maiden do if she were given such a servant? What would befall that kingdom foolish enough to allow a battler to escape? Young Solie and the people of Eferem are about to find out.

BOOK 1: The Battle Sylph     4 STARS

Today when vampires lurk around every corner and magic is popping off every shelf it’s nice to see something original… and yes I’m cutting myself down in that comment… this was a wonderful book and the whole series really creates an amazing world filled with truly alien creatures… These beings aren’t even close to being human but more just pure energy made for certain purposes: earth, wind, fire, water, healing, and battle… each sylph holds powers over one of these abilities… and the first book just barely touches on all of it but it is the beginning of a whole new world for everyone involved…

I love stories based in the time of kings and knights and things still meant to be discovered… of course this world has found a way to access another dimension where beings called sylphs live… the only thing is that they’re being used as slaves and the battlers are thought to only be brought over if a virgin girl is sacrificed… except one of their supposed sacrifices fights back and when the sylph comes through she’s the one who names it… becoming his queen… and so the fight for their lives begins… he’s a young battler and so is out matched by those being sent after them and she is just a 17 year old girl who has no idea how she ended up with a sylph much less a battler…and even they’re running off and joining a group of settlers that are trying to survive outside the tyrannical rule of the king of Eferem continues to add layers to the plot…  it’s exciting and fun and sexy all in one… definitely an interesting read as you discover this new world…
