Frostfire by Amanda Hocking description:
Bryn Aven is an outcast among the Kanin, the most powerful of the troll tribes.
Set apart by her heritage and her past, Bryn is a tracker who’s determined to become a respected part of her world. She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royal family. She’s not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden.
But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero she once loved – begins kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?
For some reason the beginning of this book didn’t grab me… while it jumped right into the action and wasn’t dragging it took a few chapters before I really felt like I had to know how it was going to end… once that happened though there was no putting it down… while I loved the Trylle series I really liked that this was from the point of view of a tracker, Bryn, because it gave a whole new look at the troll community… because while Wendy did become involved in the Trylle world eventually… Bryn has been apart of the Kanin people her whole life and looking at it through her eyes and seeing the debates and views of others it helped to really fill out this world in its struggles with whether changelings are the way to continue their life and how the hierarchy affects everyone… definitely a new sort of adventure that looks into not only the Kanin people but the Skojar as well and how each are unique… but I was happy to see a few of the Trylle popping up through the story and honestly hope we get to find out more about them as well because I do miss those characters… altogether I can’t wait for the next…
