Day 30 – Your Favorite Book of all Time

The final day… I MADE IT!!!

I hate it though because through this I feel like I keep mentioning the same books over and over again and to some degree it’s because my favoritest books would be the ones that jump to mind the most and have my favorite whatevers in them… like this question today… my favorite book of all time of course is one of the books I’ve read again and again… after all if you love a book you more than likely would want to keep revisiting it… so sorry that I have the same answers as I did on that other post…

The Mad King by Edgar Rice Burroughs

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine

Well not the exact same… I did leave the other 2 off… but I feel like I should mention a book that I have yet to talk about… but then I wouldn’t be answering honestly…

So how about a book I really like and just want to share with you…

catspellCatspell by Colleen Shannon…

This is a book that I’ve read several times but just not as many as the others I’ve mentioned… and it would at least be in my to 10 favorite books… somewhere in there… can’t say for sure which number… it’s interesting and definitely a different sort of story… it deals in the paranormal worlds, no vampires though there is a werewolf… and 2 men… one of light one of dark… but don’t think it’s easy to guess who is good and who is evil… you keep thinking you know what’s up and then… well you don’t… lol… and of course a girl trapped in the middle who is basically on the brink and she has to make sure she chooses right or she could basically be cursed forever… there’s a lot of Egyptian mythology in here which I really loved… and like I said it isn’t exactly the run of the mill stories you tend to come across in this genre…

Day 29 – A Book that is Most like Your Life

That would be a rather boring book… not to complain about my life… I love my life… but someone who is married going to college and watches TV while occasionally doing her homework isn’t that exciting to read…

mona lisaAlthough I wouldn’t mind being kind of like Mona Lisa in the Monere: Children of the Moon series by Sunny… and no that has nothing to do with the painting Mona Lisa… but a lot to do with a half human half moon girl who is a queen in a society where queens are top dog and the men are just they’re minions… in so many sexy ways… yes, I am pervy like that… just saying… I wouldn’t say no to that… though her life seems to be full of more drama than I’d care to deal with but being able to turn into a Bengal tiger would be pretty cool too…married

Though Married by Morning by Lisa Kleypas might be in some ways like my life… like the characters in this book, me and my husband didn’t exactly start out liking each other… I thought he was a huge asshole and he thought I was a crazy bitch… and then we fell in love and rode off into the sunset… it was beautiful… and really that might be my favorite book of the series, though Love in the Afternoon was pretty awesome too…

Day 28 – Favorite Title

midnightOkay… the best title I have ever heard and love and wish I could steal if it wasn’t already so iconic…

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil  by  John Berendt

I couldn’t even finish the book… I didn’t give it a review though because it was still interesting in its way… the little stories were rather funny and intriguing… but the problem was it seemed to only be little stories… I was several chapters in and I had no idea what the story was really supposed to be about or why we were going through meeting all these people… and the fact is I already knew what it was about and I was still confused… so I wrote it off for not the kind of book for me… though I liked the movie and would definitely recommend that to anyone…

The title, though, is just awesome… it conjures up all kinds of images and calls you to ask what it means… it makes me want to write a story worthy of such a title… too bad it’s already famous…

Day 27 – The Most Surprising Plot Twist or Ending

threeThr3e  by  Ted Dekker has a crazy ending…

Once you get to the ending you see some clues that could’ve been picked up but I was probably as surprised as I’ve ever been in reading a book…  I wish I could say what was so amazing and great about the ending but I’d hate to ruin it for any one that has yet to read the book… but in many ways it’s also a big plot twist because everything you thought and everything this book was going towards go turned on it’s head several times over… and it really makes me love the book so much… but the problem with such endings that sometimes it makes it not as fun to read the book again unlike other stories where the adventure is the main part… here, knowing the ending really gives the book a whole different light and you’re not sure what to root for any more…

Skin  by  Ted Dekker as well was one twist after the next… I guess it’s just what he does…skin

Now this book was one twist after the next… and the ending was kind of like WTF… it also has a strange part that when I read it really didn’t make sense but after reading  Chosen  from The Lost Books series it made much more sense and it seems like perhaps several of his books tie together and so maybe one I haven’t come across yet help give this book a real ending because it ends but then it really doesn’t… perhaps the strangest of his books that I’ve come across… nothing feels real in this book and everything is tied together to the point you don’t know which way is up anymore… all the characters seem to have a secret and you begin to wonder who you can trust and who will survive… definitely a book to check out if you like ’em bizarre…

Day 26 – A Book that Changed your Opinion about Something

ummm…

ummm… ummm… ummm…

yeah…

I don’t think I read books about serious enough situations or even real enough things to change my opinion on anything… this makes me rather sad and really wonder if I should branch out to perhaps books that talk about anything of relevance… but considering I read both for pleasure but also as a form of escape it doesn’t seem likely that that will ever happen… though I will say that even if the books I read are about the most serious of things I still do feel I learn for them or branch out into new subject because of them… there’s always more to think about… but I sadly can’t say there is a book that suddenly made me feel different about a subject…

But I had to post something because this is the 30 Day Book Challenge…

I guess I failed this day… oh well… anyone have a suggestion for a book that’s got an opinion worth hearing?

Day 25 – A Character Who You can Relate to the Most

bloodlinesMost well written characters are some what relatable… but I don’t know of any character that really stood out from the rest… probably considering most books I read are a little out there and so not the average every day situation… or they have a lot of drama in their life… and I live a rather boring life… not that I’m complaining… I prefer to keep it simple… I’d like to say perhaps Sydney from the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead… though I wish I could say it’s because I’m as smart as her… and though I’m definitely smart enough… I don’t have the drive to learn as she does… but it’s her way of seeing the world… she always tries to do what’s right even when she knows it may come back to bite her in the butt later… she sees it all very simply and that everyone else makes it much more complicated than it needs to be… it’s a character that I can relate too… though I wish we were a bit more alike… she’s definitely a good person… and a character worth looking up too that’s for sure…

Day 24 – A Book that may have taken a couple of Reads to Get

godmakers catProbably anything by Robert A. Heinlein… I mean The Cat Who Walks Through Walls and Stranger in a Strange Land are a bit confusing to say the least… and yet extremely intriguing… but I’ll admit that I spent most of the time confused… I’m not even sure if reading it 10 more times will necessarily clear anything up… though it does make me wonder what Heinlein was like to think up such incredible things…

Frank Herbert though I think just liked to be confusing… his stories tend to be a bit convoluted with so many layers to them I don’t even know if he could make heads or tails of them… The Godmakers was the book that really got me into Herbert and I’ll admit to having to look up several words he used… not to complain… I don’t mind a book that has a thing or 2 to teach me… I finally found it again and I definitely need to reread it… but all his books are just so strange I wonder if there really is anything to get…

Day 23 – A Book You Wanted to Read for a Long Time but still Haven’t

comedythere are so many on that list… I have 2 bookshelves full of books to read… about 50 ebooks waiting on me… and a 3 pages on my Amazon wishlist… It feels like more than ever that my list is backing up because I have school to take care of… but with the schooling I have read books I never would’ve read on my own and so in many ways it balances out… Though perhaps I should say something great like Pride andpride Prejudice or The Divine Comedy… both of which are on my to read list… but if I’m honest I’d be surprised if I ever do get to them… I want to read them just so I know what they’re about… after all they must be so famous for a reason… but they’re not really my thing and so I find myself putting such off… but there are so many books out there I sometimes I find myself overwhelmed thinking of them… so much to read and no matter what I’ll never even come close to reading them all…

Day 22 – Favorite Villain from a Book

forbiddenOkay… well a good villain is one you don’t mind hating and so too evil to say this is my favorite… but the closest I could say is Julian from The Forbidden Game  by  L. J. Smith… though with him, he is a villain and does evil things but he isn’t as evil as the other Shadow Men… because Julian is a Shadow man and so in many ways inherently evil and a part of the game they love to play with humans… but he’s also the youngest and not so evil as the others… so I guess he’s my favorite because he’s a villain that has hope for turning good… and in many ways wants to be good because he wants Jenny to be his and to love him and that’s probably his winning quality… even though he’s screwing up their lives and basically attempting to kill them with their own fear… in some ways he just wants to be apart of their lives and really wants an escape from the Shadow World… you feel for him and even as you want Jenny and her friends to beat him you still kind of hope for better for him…

Day 21- Your Favorite Book from Childhood

stoneThe Court of the Stone Children  by Eleanor Cameron   description:

Who is Dominique? When Nina first sees her in the French Museum, she senses that there is something unreal about the strange, beautiful girl. In fact, Domi is from Napolean’s time, and she has come to get Nina’s help. For Domi’s father was executed as a traitor during the French Revolution, and Domi is convinced that Nina can prove his innocence. But to save Domi’s father, Nina will have to solve a mystery that has lasted two centuries. And she will have to travel back through time, back to France and the court of the stone children…

Why this one?

I included the description to say that I’m not too happy with the one they show on goodreads… it makes it sound like she’s able to go back and stop his excecution… but what is really going on is that a museum curator is writing a book on Domi’s father and Domi wants to prove that her father was innocent of killing his wife… even though he never would give his alibi… but in some ways it does deal with time travel… but it’s more of the mind and this book looks into the meaning of dreams and in parts time does seem to collide as Nina hunts down information and finds that pieces from Domi’s home still hold memories attached to them… it’s definitely an interesting book and much more thought worthy than the description may make it seem… and considering it is written for a younger reading level I think it’s pretty amazing… I checked it out from the library more times than I could count and I just hunted down a copy no too long ago so I could finally own it for myself… this book definitely made an impact on me as a kid…
